Step 1: Let’s start by opening your image in Photoshop.

Once open, go to the Layers palette (pictured below), right-click on it and select Duplicate Layer…. Since my image is named “Background”, the duplicate layer is named “Background copy” by Photoshop. We’ll use those names from now on.

Step 5: Now, with the text written on the image, on the Layers palette drag the Text layer below the “Background copy” layer as shown below.

Once you do, click on the “Background copy” layer. Don’t be alarmed if the text doesn’t show up. This is because it is “covered” by the “Background copy” layer.

Step 6: Now, let’s create the final effect of turning your text transparent and then placing it on top of your image/background. Thankfully, all this can be done with a simple command in Photoshop.

Click on the Layer menu on the menu bar and select the Create Clipping Mask option. You will see that your text is finally overlaid on top of your background image.

I have looked at the following question: How to curve text in Word 2010?

Following the answer, I inserted a WordArt object. The answer said to look at Text Effects → Transform, but I can't find that. I have Drawing Tools, Format Text, with options Text Direction, Align Text, and Create Text.

Make sure you have the WordArt object selected, then in the ribbon go to Drawing Tools → Format. In the WordArt Styles box you'll find Text Effects on the bottom right, and Transform at the bottom of that menu.

The tricky part is that the text effect button doesn't actually say 'Text Effects.' If you still go to the Drawing Tools and then Format, the Text Effects button is a letter A that has blue coloring around it. It's in the WordArt Styles section. If you hover the mouse over it, it says 'Text Effects'. If you click on it, the transform button is in the drop down menu.

I'm using sublime text 3 on mac. Whenever I've had a project or folder open and closed the window (not quit the app) it would remember where i last left off, and open my last window. I noticed now when I close the window it gives me a blank document. I have to go browse to open the project. Is there some setting I'm missing?

As far as I'm aware, you can't have a set of project folders automatically open after closing and reopening the Sublime Text window (this has something to do with OS X memory management). However, if you have a lot of folders to open, instead of dragging them one by one into the Sublime Text window, you can do the following (which saves lots of time).

Open Sublime Text and add folders by either dragging them into the window or opening them by going to Project > Add Folder to Project. They should appear in the sidebar.
Go to Project > Save Project As.. and choose a directory to store your project information.
You can then Project > Edit Project or Project > Refresh Folders if needed.
The next time you close and reopen your window, you can quickly re-add all your projects/folders by going to Project > Recent Project and clicking on the only available project.

Install Sublime Text Mac

Although this way doesn't open the projects automatically for you, you can get back up and running in one or two clicks.

Go to 'Project' > 'Save Workspace As..' and choose a directory to store your workspace information.
The next time when you open Sublime Text. If it's not keeping everything you opened, Go to 'Project' > 'Open Recent' and choose the workspace you saved last time.

By Dan Gookin. Graphics in a Word 2016 document must cohabit well with the text. To keep both happy, you must understand Word’s image layout options. For smaller images, or images that otherwise break up a document in an inelegant manner, choose one of the text-wrapping layout options. Feb 06, 2016 Check Wrap text in shape at the bottom. How to wrap text in a way that after the line break the words move to another cell instead of every thing in a cell.
For example, you can have the text wrap around the photo or you can insert the picture inline with the document text. Click the image. Open the Layout menu (Word 2016) or the Format menu (Word 2013 and 2010).

Although Microsoft Word is a word processing program, it also offers some photo editing tools, as we've already seen in this article. Perhaps one of the most useful photo editing tools found in Word 2016 is the background removal tool. This tool allows you to remove backgrounds from your images.

We are going to remove the background from our image:

To use this tool, double click on the image for which you want to remove the background. Click on the Remove Background button in the Adjust group under the Picture Tools Format tab.

When you click the Remove Background button, you will see the Background Removal tab appear on the Ribbon. Your image's background – and possibly your image – will also change colors. Don't worry. This is temporary.

The areas that appear in purple are the areas that Word has determined are background areas that it needs to remove. If there is purple on any areas of your image that you want to keep, you can drag the handles of the bounding box that appears over the image. Drag the handles outward to keep more of the image.

In the snapshot above, you can see that the stem of the flower and part of a petal appear purple. If we leave them purple, they will be removed from the image. We can drag the hands of the bounding box to fix this, as pictured below.

After you adjust the bounding box, if there are still areas of your image that are purple that are not supposed to be purple, go to the Background Removal tab in the Ribbon. Remember, any areas that are purple are considered background areas by Word.

Click the Mark Areas to Keep button.

Your cursor will turn into a pencil.

Simply click on an area that you want to keep.

We can now click on all areas we want to keep.

You can also mark areas of your image for removal. It's quite possible that Word will not detect all background areas, so those areas will not appear purple. To mark areas you want the tool to remove, go to the Ribbon and click Mark Areas to Remove.

Click on the areas to remove just as you clicked on the areas you wanted to keep. However, this time, those areas will turn purple.

The downloaded voices are stored in /System/Library/Speech/Voices.

You can copy these between Macs. Download the desired voice on one Mac through System Preferences and copy it to the other Macs that you want.

If you can’t read a book because you’re driving or for some other reason, both the second-generation Kindle and the Kindle DX have an “experimental” feature that converts any text to speech and reads it to you. Calling a feature experimental means that it’s a peripheral Kindle feature that Amazon is working on; they’re available for Kindle owners to use but they might not be fully featured. These are also features that Amazon could choose to discontinue.

You can listen to speech either with headphones or through the Kindle’s speaker. It’s the perfect option for long car rides. If your car’s audio system has an input jack for audio, you can connect the Kindle to it with a standard audio plug. Mac text to speech voices. I wanted to listen to books I've purchased on the Kindle store for my commute to work, but to my dismay the Kindle android app has no text-to-speech support (some of the Kindle eReaders do).

After a bit of research and trail-and-error, I found a surprisingly good solution. For the record, this works for me using an Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android 4.1.2

Here's what you'll need:

PC/Mac/Linux:

Android:

IVONA Kendra US English beta (for english speakers) (note this takes a long time to download, so be patient).

Note: The IVONA TTS app is far superior to the default engine and makes listening to books more enjoyable instead of sounding like driving directions. You must first install the app and then install your language package of choice. Verify it is working and selected as preferred TTS engine by going to Settings>Language and input>Text-to-speech output.

Convert your book into *.MOBI file:

Purchase your book as usual using the Kindle app (note, I don't know about other e-readers, but I'm sure this isn't limited to Kindle).
Connect the phone to the computer and open Calibre. You may have to configure the device to search for *.prc files using the drop-down menu. Locate the book, right click, and add to library. Note this will copy it to your local drive. Go to library and select 'Convert Books' and select the output filetype as MOBI. Now open the file directory and copy it back to the phone to your FBReader book directory (default /storage/sdcard0/Books).

Open book in FBReader and start listening!

No Grey Shading When Selecting Text In Word For Mac

For example, if you’re working with sales figures, you may want to apply a different color to a column, row, or cell that contains totals. Sometimes, tinted rows or columns are used to make a complex table easier to read.

Jul 02, 2017 I open a Word Document and select a block of text. Word 'Highlights' the selected text Background black and changes the words Text colors to white. What I want is for the Text color to stay black and the 'Highlight' Background to be a different color (say light gray or light teal). There is no information in the help searchbar on how to remove the gray shading in the header column and row of a numbers document. Also, I need to know how to fit to page, as there does not seem to be this option in Numbers. It IS possible to remove in MS Word. Just select the mentioned text with the mouse, go to 'Format.Borders and Shading.Shading'. There select 'No Fill' and the the Highlighting will go away.

Drag your cursor across the grid to choose how many rows and columns you want in the table.
In the Table Design tab, click on Borders.
Select a border style, size, and color.
Choose the borders you want to apply from the drop-down menu under Borders or click on Border Painter to draw on the table to indicate which cells should be colored.

Compressing a picture to reduce the file size changes the amount of detail retained in the source picture. This means that after compression, the picture can look different than before it was compressed.

Simple steps for remove any package from Sublime as phpfmt, Xdebug etc.

1- Go to Sublime menu-> Preference or press Ctrl+Shift+P .2- Choose -> Remove package option, after you choosing it will display all packge installed in your sublime, select one of them.3. After selection it will remove, or for better you can restart your system.

Another issue, if you run OS X, is that you may have upgraded Xcode, and Apple has decided to not let you run git because you have not accepted the license agreement. This is if you are using the standard Apple-installed git (usually in /usr/bin/git).

Simply run git in the Terminal, and and press the space-bar and type agree to Apple's agreement to fix this. When git runs correctly, the Gitgutter will start working again.

Why git a program they had nothing to do with writing, needs to be covered by their mandatory (and ridiculously long) licensing agreement is beyond me, and is arguably in violation of the GPLv2 license of git. Another option is to just install your own git.

I want to install Babel. I'm using a Mac, I already have Sublime Text 3 and Package Controll newly installed. So I tried cmd+shift+p to open up Package Controll and I typed 'Install' but nothing shows up. I was following this link. I need Babel for React syntax highlighting.

You might what to check the file path of where Sublime 3 was placed. Did you sudo install? Perhaps this link will help.

Had the same issue, in my case I had to install package control first, I used 'simple installation' method by pasting the code from Package.io into the console (View > Show Console).

Typically, this happens on Microsoft Windows platforms rather than UNIX[1] platforms. If you experience this problem, you can help MATLAB break execution by including a drawnow, pause, or getframe function in your M-file, for example, within a large loop. Note that Ctrl+C might be less responsive if you started MATLAB with the -nodesktop option.

So I don't think any option exist. This happens with many matlab functions that are complex. Either we have to wait or don't use them!.

If ctrl+c doesn't respond right away because your script is too long/complex, hold it.

The break command doesn't run when matlab is executing some of its deeper scripts, and either it won't log a ctrl sequence in the buffer, or it clears the buffer just before or just after it completes those pieces of code. For longer running programs, I usually try to find a good place to provide a status update and I always accompany that with some measure of time using tic and toc. Depending on what I am doing, I might use run time, segment time, some kind of average, etc..

MATLAB doesn't respond to Ctrl-C while executing a mex implemented function such as svd. Also when MATLAB is allocating big chunk of memory it doesn't respond. A good practice is to always run your functions for small amount of data, and when all test passes run it for actual scale. When time is an issue, you would want to analyze how much time each segment of code runs as well as their rough time complexity.

Consider having multiple matlab sessions. Keep the main session window (the pretty one with all the colours, file manager, command history, workspace, editor etc.) for running stuff that you know will terminate.

Stuff that you are experimenting with, say you are messing with ode suite and you get lots of warnings: matrix singular, because you altered some parameter and didn't predict what would happen, run in a separate session:

One solution I adopted--for use with java code, but the concept is the same with mexFunctions, just messier--is to return a FutureValue and then loop while FutureValue.finished() or whatever returns true. The actual code executes in another thread/process. Wrapping a try,catch around that and a FutureValue.cancel() in the catch block works for me.

In the case of mex functions, you will need to return somesort of pointer (as an int) that points to a struct/object that has all the data you need (native thread handler, bool for complete etc). In the case of a built in mexFunction, your mexFunction will most likely need to call that mexFunction in the separate thread. Mex functions are just DLLs/shared objects after all.

Since you mentioned Task Manager, I'll guess you're using Windows. Assuming you're running your script within the editor, if you aren't opposed to quitting the editor at the same time as quitting the running program, the keyboard shortcut to end a process is:

Alt + F4

(By which I mean press the 'Alt' and 'F4' keys on your keyboard simultaneously.)

Alternatively, as mentioned in other answers,

Ctrl + C

should also work, but will not quit the editor.

I've got a large set of data where I need to highlight or change the font color for specific text in a cell. Ideally, I would like to assign a set of keywords to make green, and a set of keywords to make red. I can't figure out how to make this happen in a single macro so I've tried to split it into two macros, one for red and one for green.
So far I've been able to achieve one of the two. Using the copypasta code below, I can get the keywords to be red (in 2010, but not in 2011). However, when I duplicate this into another module and change the keywords and RGB value, the macro doesn't affect anything at all.
I know extremely little about VBA, so it's difficult for me to figure out why this doesn't work in 2010.
I have Office 2010 on my Windows machine and 2011 on my Mac. It's not imperative that it work on 2011 but it would be nice.

Found VoiceBase to be the best free transcribing tool and it is online so you don't need to install any software and works everywhere. I use to record voice memos in my iPhone and send them there.

Files of around 5MB/7 minutes (500-600 words) take 5-10 minutes to get transcribed (they send you an email when finished). It is sometimes inaccurate (ie. transcribes bias instead of buyers) and doesn't do any punctuation but I'd say 80-90% of the transcription is correct. It definitely saves a lot of time and keystrokes.
